Normal Human Melanocytes
Mattek’s Normal Human Melanocytes (NHM) and Growth Medium (NHM-GM) provide an optimized platform for screening actives that affect skin pigmentation. Results obtained with Mattek’s NHM can be transferred to our 3D MelanoDerm tissue model for superior product development. Available from neonatal or adult donors across a variety of ethnicities, Mattek’s NHMs offer quality and convenience for the study of melanogenesis, compound screening, toxicity testing, and product development.
Mattek’s NHMs are isolated from neonatal (NHM-CRY-NEO) or adult (NHM-CRY-AD) donor tissue and cryopreserved. When cultured in NHM-GM Growth Medium according to the Mattek NHM protocol, our melanocytes are guaranteed to have ≥ 75% viability upon thaw and to provide ≥ 12 population doublings. NHMs are characterized by their dendritic morphology and expression of MEL-5.
