Ashland, MA, January 15, 2019 – MatTek Corporation announced today a new partnership with NanoSurface Biomedical to distribute their nanopatterned cell cultureware technology. The partnership between MatTek Corporation and NanoSurface Biomedical will expand the availability of innovative, human-relevant cell culture options to life science researchers.

NanoSurface cultureware is a line of glass bottom dishes & plates that contain a nanopatterned surface that creates a cellular microenvironment that imitates the native extracellular matrix (ECM). With this technology, fibroblasts, cardiac myocytes,  smooth muscle cells, neurons, cancer cells, epithelium, and many more cell types are better able to develop in vivo-like morphology in the dish. “Nanopatterned surfaces reinforces cellular structural and functional development to promote an in vitro growth response more similar to what we’d expect to find in the body,” said Elliot Fisher, chief operating officer of NanoSurface Biomedical. “Cells cultured in NanoSurface cultureware demonstrate enhanced structural and phenotypic development compared to cells cultured in conventional dishes.” NanoSurface culture surfaces are also much softer than conventional glass or plastic culture substrates, providing a cellular microenvironment that imitates multiple aspects of the native ECM.

For decades, MatTek has led the market as the industry standard for glass bottom dishes for microscopy. “Our mission at MatTek is to provide human-relevant technology for the life sciences,” said Alex Armento, president of MatTek. “NanoSurface Bio provides a technology that fits that mission and has real usefulness for our customers and their research, so it was a natural fit to add NanoSurface Bio products to our existing catalog for the convenience of our customers.”

The addition of NanoSurface technology to its catalog ensures that MatTek will continue to deliver the best quality products and services to researchers, so they may deliver the best results for their experiments.
