In Vitro Models of Full Thickness Human Skin (EpiDermFT™) and Airway Epithelium (EpiAirwayFT™) for Toxicology and Drug Development Applications
MatTek Corp. presented a technical poster on the use of its EpiDermFT in vitro full thickness human skin model and its EpiAirwayFT full thickness human airway model in toxicology and drug development studies at the 2003 Congress on In Vitro Biology, held in Portland, OR, (USA) May 31 - June 4.

In Vitro Models of Full Thickness Human Skin (EpiDermFT™) and Airway Epithelium (EpiAirwayFT™) for Toxicology and Drug Development Applications
"The response of epithelial cells to exogenous chemical exposure is believed to be strongly influenced by paracrine signaling from fibroblasts (FB) residing in the sub-epithelial stromal tissue. Thus, “full-thickness” models containing an epithelial cell layer as well as an underlying FB-containing stromal matrix are desirable to more fully reproduce the in vivo situation."
