207. DERMATACS™ IN SITU APOTOSIS DETECTION KIT FOR SKIN CELLS AND TISSUES.

Summary: Trevigen announces the release of a new in situ apoptosis detection kit for skin cells and tissues, DermaTACS, and the companion products, EpiDerm™ Control Slides. DermaTACS was developed for the scientist working in skin research seeking distinct identification of cells with fragmented DNA and unprecedented low background interference. DermaTACS is ideal for the novice user providing all the key reagents required for the detection of apoptosis and complete instructions for use. TACS-Nuclease™ is provided with the kit for generating a positive control with your own samples. Trevigen also has available EpiDerm Control Slides which are sections of synthetic human skin with and without irradiation with UVB. EpiDerm Control Slides provide an ideal starting material for the novice user to familiarize themselves with the process used in DermaTACS.
Detection of DNA fragmentation in UVB irradiated human skin model, EpiDerm, with Trevigen’s in situ apoptosis detection kit for skin cells and tissues, DermaTACS. EpiDerm skin samples were fixed in 10% buffered formalin at 1 and 6 hours after irradiation at 180 mJ/cm2. Control samples were treated in an identical manner without irradiation. The fixed samples were embedded in paraffin and 6 um sections were collected onto Trevigen slides pretreated for electrostatic adherence. The sections were labeled for DNA fragmentation using DermaTACS. An unirradiated sample was treated with TACS Nuclease™ to generate a positive labeling control. The dark blue stained cells at 1 and 6 hours also exhibit punctate morphology indicative of apoptosis. The TACS-Nuclease treated sample shows the diffuse blue staining of fragmented but uncondensed DNA.
